Phase III. The only thing I do different is manage how my elbows are feeling after the sets of 3. If they are good, I finish it out. If they are achy, I don't.
So, I'm not anywhere near as strong or as experienced as you. Those look to me like touch and go benches not paused benches. Do you count your pauses or just go by feel?
An earlier video of yours. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XxXeaBueL0 Reps 2 thru 5 is what I would consider paused. The way I imagine pause reps from your writing is at least a two second pause, maybe I misunderstood. This is not a knock at all, just wanted clarification. Maybe I have been limiting the weight I can use by performing and extra long pause.
You don't need to pause for two seconds, though you CAN train the pause that way. Certainly makes it harder. You need to pause long enough to take the stretch reflex out a bit. Half a second is fine for that. I've never been red lighted for jumping the press command in a meet ever.
Looks damn good. You'll hit 500 in no time.
ReplyDeleteWhat bbm bench phase are you using or are you doing something else?

ReplyDeleteRep 3 was touch and go. The rest were indeed paused. I'm not sure how you can't see that rep 6 was paused.
