Sorry to hear about the meet. This is not related to your post but I just wanted to share that I adhered to your advice several months ago about ditching the straps and belt. Now after initially resetting my weights, I am pulling and squatting more without the straps and belt. My lower back actually feels better and stronger.
Yes it is actually. It was the only texas power bar I could find here locally, and I actually do NOT like pressing with it. I may find another one this week.
Yeah, that's the texas squat bar I believe. They have one of those at the gym I go too as well. I don't like pressing with it either, especially thumbless. Just so you know, the bar is longer then a regular bar (which sucks for anything overhead) and weighs 55lbs not 45
Just watching how you get tight on the bench press (digging your upperback into the bench with your toes) this is something I've been messing around with. When you unrack are your feet flat on the ground or are you still up on your toes?

ReplyDeleteThanks and I hope you have a speedy recovery.
Good to hear man!
DeleteI also recently ditched the belt for pulling. I still like it for squats, but for pulls it just ends up putting me in a weird position.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I worked a 2-day meet this weekend loading weight. New found appreciation for loaders and spotters. It is shit work my friend. Shit work.
Looking solid. Is that a thicker then normal bar? I'm not sure if its because I'm not used to looking at false grip or what, but that bar looks big

I'll weigh it today, but I think this one is actually 45.....if it's 55 that's even better. lol
DeleteHaha either way it was a solid set
