ReplyDeleteThis is what I thought about, when you were talking about guys texting in bars:
ReplyDeletehttp://hulkangry.com/images/wallpaper/comicbooks/hulk300/390.jpg
That's awesome, but why the hell would the Hulk need a machine gun?
DeleteI think that question is the awesomest thing about that cover!
DeleteQuestion for next podcast:
ReplyDeleteWhat's your opinion on eccentric-less training? It was a big thing on T-nation in the past
Here's your main man Thibs talking about it
http://www.t-nation.com/strength-training-topics/25
and Glenn Pendlay
http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/most_recent/too_much_muscle_the_glenn_pendlay_secret
TL;DR Adding concentric only workouts on top of regular lifting is apparently awesome.
Interesting because I hate Tibadouche but like Pendlay....
DeleteThat Pendlay article is interesting, would really like to hear what you guys think of it...
DeleteFunniest podcast so far. Look forward to the next one hopefully with some more training stuff covered.
ReplyDeleteStill crack up that Thibadeau continues to claim he's natural because of a "horrific experience" he had in high school (supposedly hospitalized because his ignorant steroid use affected an unknown heart defect). Also claims because of that incident that he cannot do steroids even if he wanted to because of the said defect.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile he's 240 and lean as hell. Stupid.
That's why I call him Thibadouche.
DeleteThe last time someone asked him why he doesn't use he claimed it was because while he was in his honey moon, he was stung by a "very rare tropical mosquitoe" that gave him congenital heart defect, and therefor he can't use.
DeleteHowever, there's only one kind of bug that gives heart diseases, it's from the beetle family, not mosquitoe, it doesn't give the disease through the sting, but through it's feces, and it exists only in countries like Brazil and Argentina. And you die after a few months of getting stung because your heart hypertrophies.
Thibadouche sucks at making stories.
Question for the next podcast:
DeleteIf you and Jaime had to fight a knife yielding gang of thugs (individually), knowing they'll come at you one or two at a time, and you're allowed to choose any kind of melee weapon, (except chainsaws), which one would it be and what would be your strategy ?
Holy christ I did not know that. I need to research this more.
DeleteKind of a long post, but since you seem to hate Thibadouche more than me, here's something I think you'd like to read.
ReplyDeleteYep Thibs makes stories as it suits him. I know quite a few of his bullshits
For example, dunno if you're familiar with the "Anaconda Protocol" thing that happened a few years ago. Basically another one of their "non-steroidal supps that work better than steroids" thing, at the time they released an ok training program with lots of made-up terminology and labeled it "FOR ADVANCED TRAINEES AND LIFTERS ON ANACONDA ONLY" (ego trap for their clients to buy the supp).
Anyway, Thibs went ahead and made absurd claims about the supplement, and stated that he added 100lbs to his overhead press in 8 weeks, 100lbs to his bench, 100lbs to everything, because of the "exclusive" properties of the supplement. At the time TN still had respectable members, so some of them went ahead and looked up Thibs record lifts from when he was an Oly lifter. Turns out he couldn't even jerk for one what he claimed to be overheading for reps. When he was called out for it, he made-up several excuses saying the numbers where used on partial-cluster-rest-paused sets and shit like that. Then he dissapeared from the forums for a while and the members who called him out where banned.
The most asshole thing he and biotest ever did happened when Biotest was sponsoring Daryl Gee for the 205 Mr.O and Thibs was training him. Basically Daryl did add a shitload of size during the weeks he was trained by Thibs, but when someone asked about Daryl's cycle, Thibs just went ahead and said Anaconda alone was resposible for Daryl's gains. I shit you not.
Mr.O time comes along. Everyone starts saying that Daryl will win and all that shit. Daryl ends up getting 12th place. What's the first thing Thibs and Shugart (another asshole) do ? They log in the website and start telling everyone it was Daryl's fault and his alone because he didn't followed their "strict feeding protocol" a few hours before the competition ( despite the fact that they had a team of guys following the dude for 2 weeks making sure he did everything right ). Anyway they keep blaming Daryl for days until everyone is calling the guy a douchebag, drop the dude's sponsorship out of the blue and guess what ? Nobody's had heard or seen Daryl in another comp ( so we can assume he went bankrupt or couldn't find another sponsor since Biotest ruined him in the eyes of everyone).
More wood for your fire I guess.
Jesus christ!
DeleteThe whole Thibs vs Lyle feud at the Bodyrecomposition boards were fun to read. Although I think Lyle is just as much of an asshole as Thibs is...
DeleteHere's a question I think both you and Jaime are gonna love:
ReplyDeleteKonstantin Konstantinovs VS Mikhail Koklyaev
First Round: A PL meet
Second Round: An OLY meet
Third Round: A Strongman Comp
Fourth Round: All out bareknucke cage fight
We need a crusade to run Thibaudeau off the internet once and for all. The guy is absolutely, painfully ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI agree. And I think he's going to be the topic of our next podcast. But Jamie is out of town this weekend so you guys will have to wait an extra week.
DeleteLaughed my fucking ass off at "The War Criminal Miyagi"!!!
ReplyDeleteWell he was......
DeleteHi Paul here's my question for the podcast. I believe your deadlift is somewhere in the area of 700lbs. That's impressive(to me) even more so since you are not built like an orangutang.
ReplyDeleteWell I am built like an orangutang. As a result my deadlift is ok but my bench lags in comparison. What do you recommend for lifters who want to improve on movements that they are not built for?
Just to give you an idea of my current strength levels. My max dead is around 535lbs, Squat 400lbs, and bench a lowly 280lbs. I'd like it to be to be atleast in the 350lb range.
I'm not just saying this because it's my preference, but start benching close grip. I have been finding that more and more longer armed guys do so much better with close grip benching. The whole "shorten the ROM with a wider grip" I have found, really only benefits dudes already built for benching.
DeleteWatch vids of KK and try to mirror him if you're longer armed. He's got that shit down.
Thanks, Paul, sorry but who is "KK"?
ReplyDeleteKonstantinovs.
DeleteWe still need a download link?
ReplyDeleteWhen you go into 4share you will see it.
DeleteHey Paul, any opinions or experiences with cluster training? How would you feel about someone integrating it into their top and backoff sets in your big15 programme? Somewhat bastardising but more weight for more reps with less form breakdown can only be good, right? Pretty much what I do and its worked for steady gains like a whores mouth, btw when you find the balance of intensity and recovery.
ReplyDeleteAlso, would you say it was reasonable to suggest that Jamie's style is basically an extended cluster set with marginally longer breaks? Can only wonder what his reaction would be.
As you can tell I fucking love cluster training - I'd stick my piece in it if I could
Jonts
Hmmmm that sounds like bastardizing my shit........
